Who We Are
The Wichita County Heritage Society was founded in 1974 by a group of visionaries who gave the society the mission of promoting the heritage of Wichita County. From its inception, the Society seeks to be a strong influence in the community in the name of historic preservation. While our accomplishments are many, such as The Kemp-Kell Depot, the Littlest Skyscraper and The Holt Hotel, our future goals are just as great. Preservation starts at home, it demands perseverance, passion, and patience. Wichita County Heritage Society and its membership strive for excellence in all these areas.
The Wichita County Heritage Society is a 52-year-old non-profit organization established for and dedicated to the preservation of Wichita County’s historic buildings. The purpose of the Heritage Society is carried out through the educational and cultural development of the community by encouraging and promoting the preservation, restoration and display of historical landmarks, natural beauty and other objects distinctive of Wichita County.
